Highway Clean-Up Success: Protecting the Gallatin and Madison Ranges Takes Many Forms

Highway 191 near Gallatin Gateway is aptly named β itβs the gateway to some of the most incredible wild places in southwest Montana. Heading south, the northwest corner of the Gallatin Range frames the horizon on the left, while the snowy Spanish Peaks dominate the skyline to the right.
Many of us travel this section of highway on our way to our favorite places in the Madison and Gallatin ranges. You can access the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, Garnet Mountain Fire Lookout, Storm Castle Peak, the Gallatin River, and many other beloved places. Yesterday, 14 volunteers lent a hand to clean up and help protect this land we all love.
Together, we picked up trash along a mile of Highway 191. Altogether, we ended the clean-up with:
π27 bags of trash
πA few tires
π¨2 sheets of plywood
π Many car parts
π€14 fantastic volunteers
Thank you to the volunteers who made this event possible!
Standing up for our wild backyard can take many forms. We invite you to join us for the next clean-up in the fall, and in the meantime, you can help permanently protect the Madison and Gallatin ranges by endorsing the Greater Yellowstone Conservation and Recreation Act.
